The Great Northern Way unites visual experiences from 7 Russian regions, from Archangelsk oblast in the west to Chukotka in the east. It faithfully follows the journey of the 17th Century explorer, Semen Dezhnev, whose discoveries carry an importance comparable with that of Ferdinand Magellan, proving the existence of the strait between Asia and America. Reconstructing Dezhnev's route, the film captures some of the most breathtaking footage ever captured on film.
Presented in Russian w/ English subtitles.

About Leonid Kruglov
Explorer, photographer, ethnographer and a documentary film director with over 20 years of experience, including 55 expeditions to the remotest and most inaccessible places of the world, Leonid Kruglov, devoted 4 years reconstructing Semen Dezhnev's route, undertaking a series of expeditions using both modern and traditional transportation means in the making of his remarkable The Great Northern Way. He is the creator of dozens of documentaries and thematic photo exhibitions and has contributed to Geo, National Geographic, 1st Channel ("Pervyi Kanal"), Russia 1 and Russia 2. Leonid is also the head of the "Dialogue with the World" and "Brave Seven" projects.
